The Pet Owners Association asked members whether their pet has caused an injury or accident. It seems many have been injured, and here are the most common causes of injury.
- Bruises (and worse) from tripping and
falling over pets, their food dishes or toys
- Bruises
from being swept off feet whilst walking dog on
lead.
- Repetitive strain injuries from throwing
balls and sticks for a dog.
- Puncture wounds and scratches from
trying to put the cat
into a basket.
- Puncture wounds and scratches from attempting to give the cat a
tablet.
- Back
strains from putting down pet food and water on to the
floor.
- Back strains from lifting the dog into the car.
- Minor burns from getting caught up in nylon leads.
- Scratches from the cat attempting to move it from a piece
of furniture.
- Bites from parrots and budgies when cleaning the cage.
