We
held a swimathon for dogs on Saturday 14/4/07 for National Pet Awareness Month.
We used our hydrotherapy pool to swim twenty-two dogs. Apart from lunch-time,
the pool was never empty during the day.
Each minute a dog swims is equivalent to a mile walked. Twenty-six minutes is
equivalent to a marathon. In total, over ten marathons were swum.

The owners of the dogs raised sponsorship promises for around £750. This will be
divided between the national charity for Pet Awareness Month, and local branches
of Greyhound Rescue and Friends of the Animals.

We are very grateful to all the owners who brought dogs, raised sponsorships and
gave donations. We are also thankful to our staff team, Nina Gregory (a previous
staff member), and visiting specialist vet Roger Meacock who officiated as
time-keeper.
