Natural Therapy Key to Healing

THE IW Natural Therapy Centre for Animals in Ryde is holding an open day as part of National Pet Week.

Visitors are welcome to visit the centre at Aldermoor Farm in Upton Road between 10am and 4pm next Saturday, May 6.

The centre offers a wide range of natural therapies for cats, dogs and horses, which are designed to be gentle, holistic and complementary to the skills and methods of veterinary medicine.

Treatments on offer include chiropractic, hydrotherapy, massage, laser, ultrasound and deep heat and clinical director Vav Simon performs many of the therapies herself, while mainland vet Roger Meacock visits regularly to do acupuncture and homeopathy.

Both experts will he present at the open day, which is designed to be a fun day out for all the family, but complements the ethos of National Pet Week to encourage people to be more responsible, better pet owners.

Visitors will be able to see dog obedience displays by the IW Dog Training Society, which will include tips on being a more responsible dog owner and how to train a pet not to foul pavements or bite.

There will also be raffles and fun competitions with small prizes, plus a chance to check out the dog swimming facilities and learn more about the different treatments available.

Friends Of The Animals and other rescue charities will be on hand to tell you more about their work, while centre staff will he giving talks about improving the fitness of pets and providing better diets, particularly for dogs.

Many Island vets refer animals to the centre for treatment. Referrals must be made by your vet for rehabilitation programmes but are usually made by owners for fitness and fun programmes.

Entrance to the open day is free.
